exploring sidereal human design, astrology, and gene keys
Hello all! It’s been a little while since I’ve written here. Lately, I've been immersed in Human Design and the Gene Keys more deeply, as I contemplate what to share in my upcoming Holographic Self course (hey, I just invented that name and I love it!)
In addition to that, I’ve been diving into my sidereal Human Design chart. You can get yours on the Cosmic Human Design website - and make sure you use their UTC time converter tool!
Word on the street is, the sidereal charts available on the Genetic Matrix website are not generated correctly!
It’s a system of calculating the planetary positions based on observable phenomena, rather than symbology. You can say “side-reel” or “sigh-DARE-ee-al” - I won’t laugh, either way.
Basically, tropical astrologyis what everyone’s used for calculating planetary positions since at least 200 years ago. The trouble with that is, we exist in a conscious, dynamic universe, so the planets have been moving - while our charts have been calculated as if everything in the heavens is fixed in place and time.
Vedic, or sidereal astrology, takes this into account - and it also lets us generate Human Design charts calculated with the sidereal system. In tropical HD, I’m a 6/2 Projector - but in sidereal, I’m a 1/3 Generator!
Now, you might think that having just one Human Design chart to decode and innerstand is quite enough without throwing in a whole ‘nother calculation system - and initially, I agreed. I first heard of sidereal maybe a year ago, but didn’t feel compelled to dig into it.
A friend of mine (who’s a 6/2 mental projector) is also digging into her sidereal Human Design, and here’s what she told me that made me get curious enough to go check out my chart…
She's 44, and I'm 42 - and recently, she said that as we move thru our de-conditioning process, after we’ve spent some dedicated time in self-exploration…that’s when our sidereal will start to emerge and resonate as more "true" for us.
This insight rings true for me, because I’ve been able to read the HD charts of folks in their mid-fifties and late sixties, and they seem to respond to my readings with, “Oh, I used to be like that”, or, “that was really true for me when I was younger, but not so much now.”
In other words, the older we get, the more we grow out of the notable challenges within our astrology and HD charts, and/or Gene Keys.
I’m thinking, perhaps our tropical astrology/HD/GK contains the foundational aspects of who we are in youth and early adulthood - while the expansion and fullness of who we are as we age becomes more apparent in our sidereal, as we work thru the main challenges/lessons of our tropical chart (either consciously, or more likely, unconsciously).
In the study of north node astrology, I’ve also found that our south node sign describes the “comfort zone” of early life, while our north node contains the template for our path of potential growth and self-awareness.
When I read Human Design for kids, I often look at their south node gates, as well as their sun, earth, and moon - because the south node often contains clues for our initial tendencies and habits. For adults, we can look at the north node in contrast with the south node, to discern our patterns of growth and evolution.
Often, we identify with less evolved behaviours and traits of our south node sign as how we were in our teen years. Ideally, some of the higher expressions of our north node sign will become evident as as we mature past early adulthood.
The idea of sidereal Human Design and astrology just adds another layer of complexity to our charts - and when you’re ready for it, you might emerge with some uncanny insights!
My conscious sun and earth gates in my sidereal Human Design chart are perhaps even more compelling than those in my “regular” chart!
